Free Advice:

If you're full term (prego) and need to color your hair, just go pay someone to do it (no matter the cost).

Don't try to do it when you're home alone with all your kids and you realize (right when it's time to rinse the color out) that you can't reach the sink faucet because of your HUGE baby belly... It might end up being a complete disaster.

Oh, and I very well could have broke my water trying to squeeze myself close enough to rinse my hair - but I wouldn't have known it because water was already literally EVERYWHERE.

I'm feeling *blue*.

I haven't been updating on baby much lately, mostly because there's been so much going on, yet we didn't have any answers.

Well, now we have answers.

I've been having contractions (consistently) for a while now (going on 2 weeks). They got so bad last week that I ended up in the hospital for 2 days where the doctors immediately "made" me start partaking in a sample platter of drugs trying their best to find one that would just.make.them.stop (before my uterus ruptured and we had a little baby on our hands)! We didn't find one. However, we did find one that helped calm the raging uterus enough to be bearable, but not enough to completely stop the pain (nice).

The plan of attack was to keep taking that medication, be on "modified" bed rest (I've taken the "modified" to mean whatever I need it to mean in the moment, but there hasn't been a whole lot of "bed-resting" going on around here), and go to the doctor every couple of days to monitor baby's health (and my consistent contractions) until I hit 37 weeks when we would do an amniocentesis and if it came back positive (mature lungs) we'd do a c-section the next morning.

I'm now 37 weeks.

Amnio is scheduled for Monday morning and c-section will be on Tuesday.

No, I'm absolutely not "ready" and yes, I'm totally "ready." You get me?

I'm ready to be done with this rollercoaster of a ride pregnancy, ready to hold our little love in my arms, ready for our kids to meet their little brother, and ready to see for myself that he's perfectly healthy.

However, I'm not ready for another surgery. I'm educated on what exactly an amnio entails, but I don't feel mentally prepared for one (think horse needle aimed at - and going straight into - baby belly) - but I completely trust my doctor (really, she's amazing) and I know that it's best for my body to have him out at this point.

So, there you have it.

My weekend plans are: Finish baby's room (put up crib, etc.), install car seat, manicure (because, obviously), love on my "big kids," plan out the who/what/where for the kids' schedule while I'm in the hospital next week, meal plans, pack diaper bag (that has yet to arrive - oops), pack my hospital bag... all of this while "resting" of course. I'm so thankful to have family (my husband and kids, my parents, my husband's parents, etc.) who are so amazingly helpful. I SERIOUSLY don't know what I would do without them (besides already be hospitalized for mental issues).

So, as of now there's a REALLY good chance we'll have ourselves another son come Tuesday morning. YAY!

Totally did.

When trying to look up an (ahem... my husband's grandma's) address on "whitepages.com" it might work better if you actually use the person's real name.

Doing this...

First name: Grandma

Last name: Goose

...doesn't work that well.

Oh, yes. I did.

Vegetarians?

Natalie: "Lets think of some things that birds eat besides meat..."

Me: "Um... birds don't eat meat, Sweetie."

Carter: "You're kidding right, Mom?! Haven't you heard of BIRDS OF PREY!?"

Jeff (the science major) about died when I told him this. He *might* have told me later that I was right that some birds don't eat meat...

"Take Seagulls for example," he said, "...they live off bread and french fries."

Thanksforthat,babe.

So Efficient

I have been looking for a "diaper bag" for forever okay, not forever, but you know what I mean, it's been a while. I'm not a fan of the typical diaper bag look even though actual made-to-be-diaper-bags are probably more functional than anything else, but at this point (baby #4) I really wanted to buy something that I'd be able to continue using after we were are out of the diaper bag stage.

I'd been looking for a grey purse since I saw Syd's, seriously, SWOON for a while now, but realized that buying a new purse was a pretty silly (not to mention an unnecessary expense at this point) since I would most likely not feel like carrying a purse and carrying a diaper bag (I'm no rookie, folks - less is more these days). So....

I bought a bag that will serve BOTH purposes (I know, so clever)!

And it's adorable!

And handmade!

And I can use it afterwards for plenty of purposes - it's a great size (big!)!

And I got it off Etsy (my favorite online shopping destination) and I could not be more pleased!

[And I'm now done with the exclamation points and beginning sentences with "and", even though it's hard to stop.]

I just hope it gets here in time to pack it up for the trip to the hospital.

[The ribbon is removable (and will be immediately removed).]

My husband - I swear.

Sometimes that guy just knows exactly how to push my buttons. It probably doesn't help that he's been doing it since, oh, the seventh grade.

Let me back up a little.

I got a phone call this morning from my doctor's office to call them regarding the scheduling of my c-section. I called and talked to the scheduling lady (technical term) and per my doctor's orders scheduled for May 31st (four weeks from today - GAH!!!).

The actual surgery is at 7:30am, but she reminded me that I need to be there at 5:30am for pre-op and everything, so needless to say it will be an early morning (not to mention the fact that we live a good 45 minutes from the hospital).

I called Jeff at work to let him know the plan and when I told him what time everything was scheduled to take place his immediate response was, "Okay - so you and I will just take two cars then so I don't have to be there quite so early?"

Oh, you're hilarious.
